Zuva Petroleum through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme continues its work with Kidzcan in helping them operationally in their day to day tasks of assisting children with cancer. Kidzcan will not need to concern themselves with fuel expenses as Zuva Petroleum has pledged to provide them with fuel to meet their needs for the rest of this year.
“I commend Zuva Petroleum for supporting children suffering from cancer through their partnership with Kidzcan. Their commitment to fuel Kidzcan cars for the rest of this year is not only impressive but it shows that Zuva cares about the communities they operate in and the children who are our leaders of tomorrow. This is a challenge to other Corporates to adopt a charity of their choice and help in any way they can. By uniting our efforts in improving the living conditions of orphans or unwell children, we improve our nation, one child at a time,” remarked Dr. John Mangudya, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe at the Zuva Fuel Card and Coupon launch held at Wild Geese Lodge.
Kidzcan is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to providing hope and comfort to families and children suffering from cancer through a volunteer programme. The programme is run through donations and fund raising to offer psychosocial support to children undergoing treatment as well as sourcing and paying for chemotherapy drugs, diagnostic services, and blood products among other services in an effort to manage childhood cancer in Zimbabwe.
The need for sponsorship increases with each passing day as the number of children suffering from cancer rises by the day. Cancer accounts for more deaths among children than other diseases such as HIV and Aids, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies.
“Zuva Petroleum have been a partner of ours for quite some time now and we are humbled that they continue to support us in any way they can. The support we receive from the business community humbles us and assures us that we are doing something right for children in this country. The donated fuel will be used for fueling cars used to ferry children for treatment as well as hospital and home visitations. The fuel will go a long way in making the lives of the staff and volunteers at Kidzcan much easier. Thank you very much Zuva Petroleum for such a generous donation, it gives us energy to carry on doing what we do, every day,” said Maureen Maradzika from Kidzcan.
Kidzcan was established in 2003 by Andrea Whartman, a childhood cancer survivor and Dr. Orphard Mupanemunda, who was the only paediatric oncologist in Zimbabwe at the time.
